Wed Sept 28, 2011 - Square Roots & Divisibility Con't

Today we discussed the divisibility rules for 8, 3, 9, 6 and 7
8 - A number is divisible by 8 if its last 3 digits are divisible by 8
3 - A number is divisible by 4 if the sum of its digits is divisible by 3
9 - A number is divisible by 9 if the sum of its digits is divisible by 9
6 - A number is divisible by 6 if it is divisible by 2 and 3 (even and digital sum a multiple of 3)
7 - Will you be the mathematician who discovers a rule for 7?

Homework:  Finish "2.2 Squares and Square Roots" and "2.5 Factors and Divisibility"

Difficult BONUS: Research and briefly explain *why* the rules for 3 and 9 work.
