Oct 4 - Using Prime Factoring to find the LCM (Lowest Common Multiple) and GCF (Greatest Common Factor)

Today we looked at how to use Prime Factoring to find the LCM (Lowest Common Multiple) and GCF (Greatest Common Factor) of two numbers.

For example
8 = 2 x 2 x 2
12 = 2 x 2 x 3
Their GCF 4.  It is the product of the prime factors they have in common  2 x 2
Their LCM is 24.  It is the product of the prime factors they share (2 x 2) times all of the factors they don't share (x 2 x3).  So their LCM is 2 x 2 x 2 x 3

Homework:  1.3 Questions #1 and #2.
1.1 and 1.2 are overdue.
